SNAGOV MONASTERY MANASTIREA SNAGOV
First mention of the monastery is in 1408 and is considered to be built by Mircea the Elder, a Wallachian landlord, who made a stand against Ottoman sultan Bayezid I Yldirim (the lightning) at Rovine, somewhere in Southern Romania. Mircea the Elder is grandfather of Vlad the Impaler.
