LETEA FOREST IN DANUBE DELTA

Fresh images of LETEA forest, sent by my dear friend Alex Carbune, aka Lost Soul:http://lostsoul.ro/
The forest is the most northern tropical forest and has about 3200 ha, being composed of more parts:
Hasmacul Mare; Tarla Popii; Schiopul; Crusina; etc.
Here is the only place in Europe where lianes can be found, and also many endemic botanical species, many of them unique in The Old World.
Also here live wild horses, maybe thousands...
I know a man who catches some of them, around 300 once, drive them over the Danube and sells the horses to Italian butchers. The sight of horses swimming from shore to shore of Danube is really awesome...

Looks like an enchanting place. Those poor horses, throughout history they seem to have been betrayed and mistreated.I think they represent the wild inner spirit in all of us that some people apparently want to crush
